What services do you provide, and to whom?

We provide personal care services to older adults, adult disabled persons, and veterans. Note: We do NOT service individuals under 18 years old.

What are personal care services?

Caregivers can assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). ADLs are everyday tasks (basic activities) an individual will perform throughout their day, for example: taking a bath or shower, walking to and from places, using the restroom, and getting dressed for the day. IADLs build upon the basic tasks an individual will perform throughout their day, for example: cooking and preparing meals, house cleaning and organization, clothing and bedding, laundry, and transportation and errands.

*If you are a veteran and your services are covered by the Department of Veteran Affairs, Caregivers cannot provide transportation during your covered service hours. You may ask for transportation if paying out-of-pocket.

Note: Unfortunately, for the safety of patients and caregivers, caregivers cannot be responsible for the heavy lifting that relies solely on the caregiver.

Where are services available?

Services are available for individuals in the Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, and Boulder City, Nevada areas. We are in exclusive partnership with Heroes Caregiving, a personal care agency licensed in Southern Nevada and contracted with the Department of Veteran Affairs.

DARA looks forward to expansion throughout the United States soon

How does a patient pay for services? Is insurance or other forms of reimbursement accepted?

Patients pay out-of-pocket or have services covered by the H/ HHA program through the Department of Veteran Affairs. * DARA will prompt users to input payment information before services are rendered. If an individual other than the patient would like to pay for services, please input that individual’s payment information. The user pays for services after the appointment has ended and rendered services have been confirmed by both the patient and the caregiver. If you are a veteran, DARA will monitor the authorized number of service hours covered by the VA. You will not be charged out-of-pocket unless you need and use hours outside the authorized amount.

Note: Some patients can receive partial reimbursement of services through their insurance; however, we are not responsible for managing this reimbursement.

* Are you a veteran? You may be eligible for our services at no cost to you!

Step 1: Enrollment in VA Health Care Benefits

Most veterans who served in the active military, naval, or air service and did not receive a dishonorable discharge qualify for the VA’s standard medical benefits package. Not signed up for VA health care but believe you are eligible for coverage? Apply online at va.gov, by phone at 877-222-8387, or by applying for health benefits form by mail or in person at a VA medical center or clinic.

Step 2: Eligibility for Community Care Services

Any veteran who is signed up for VA health care and is seeking homemaker or home health aide services qualifies for community care since the VA does not offer these services directly.

Step 3: Clinical Eligibility for H/ HHA Services

A veteran must demonstrate a clinical need for H/ HHA services. Assessments are conducted by a VA primary care provider or a geriatrics care team. If you have met Steps 1 and 2, contact a VA primary care provider today and see if you qualify. If you do, ask for services from Heroes Caregiving!

Do you accept Medicaid and or/ Medicare?

DARA works with personal care agencies to render services. DARA is in exclusive partnership with Heroes Caregiving; they do not accept Medicaid or Medicare due to the highly competitive rate Caregivers are paid to ensure quality care.

What are the rates? Are there minimum service hour requirements?

There are no minimum requirements, contracts, or subscription fees. Patients (or their payers) are only charged for their rendered service hours and a low transaction fee. Rates are the most competitive in the industry.

Who are the caregivers working on DARA?

All caregivers on DARA must: be legally able to work in the United States; pass a background check; be certified and credentialed in their State; be at least 18 years of age or older; and have obtained at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, they must show compassion and a desire to work with others in need!

How does DARA work?

Both patients and caregivers download DARA on their mobile device from the Apple store (iPhone users) or Google Play.

Caregivers are prompted to create an account and to input mandatory documentation to work on DARA. The Caregiver does not have access to patients until a DARA or personal care agency Administrator approves the caregiver (by ensuring credentials are legitimate, by conducting a background check, and by meeting with the caregiver for an in-house orientation). Once approved, the Caregiver can input: their bio, their availability, the preferred services they focus on, and the radius in which they would like to travel. They will then have access to patient requests for future appointments or urgent requests (care that is needed as soon as possible).

Patients or users are prompted to create an account, set up their profile, and then will have access to caregivers that are available in their area or within a 50-mile radius (this can be adjusted according to preference and availability of caregivers).

All users will need to enter the patient’s address in which they would like to receive services; this is important and useful for those assisting a patient. For example, if you are in New York and you need services for your father in Nevada, you can set up services for your father. Just make sure you enter his address in the profile!

Veterans will need to select that they are a veteran and will need to provide their veteran identification and the last four digits of their social security number (for security, VA authorization, and billing).

The patient or user can make an urgent request if care is needed as soon as possible; this request will go out to all caregivers. The patient can also make a future appointment with any caregiver, or they can choose a specific caregiver. The patient or user can use the chat feature to ensure seamless communication with the requested caregiver.

After services are rendered, each party will confirm the services; the patient or user will also be prompted to leave a rating for the caregiver and has the option to tip (a great idea if the caregiver provided transportation!).
Lastly, the patient or user will confirm the payment source, pay, and the caregiver will be on their way home or to their next appointment!

How do I register a complaint if I have an issue with the app?

You can easily raise your concerns with us by reaching our support team through the DARA app along with the details of your issue. Otherwise, you can also email us at info@dara-app.com or give us a call at (800) 481-0465. In any case, our team is prepared to cater to your issue and ensure a satisfying resolution as soon as possible.

How do I hire someone for personal care from DARA?

It’s quite a simple process. First, you download the DARA app. Then, you create an account and set up your profile. Once your information is verified, you can hire caregivers near your area within a 50-mile radius.

What if I need care for both a person and their pet?

DARA is here primarily for the ease of personal care for the elderly and veterans. But we understand that some of our clients may also have pets as companions. So, for the best possible service, we take all necessary measures to cater to such requests accordingly.

How should I deal with a caregiver I don’t like?

At DARA, our aim is to ensure incredible personal care services for all. So, we ensure the caregivers registered with us are qualified and compassionate enough to provide bias-free and sincere care for all.

On the off chance that your assigned caregiver still doesn’t offer up-to-the-mark services, you can leave a review on the app. For urgent complaints, you can also contact us at (800) 481-0465 via phone, or info@dara-app.co via email.

How do I request changes to my required hours?

You can easily request changes through the DARA app. For urgent changes, you can also reach us via call or email. However, you should keep in mind that you may not be able to get services from the same caregiver if you decide to change your timings with advanced notice.

Why should I hire a caregiver through DARA?

You can absolutely hire anyone you may trust without using the app. However, the difficulties with hiring someone for personal care by yourself can arise in the following forms:

  • You may not have the proper knowledge to conduct a background check
  • Despite a lower pay rate, the hired individual may not be qualified for personal care
  • You may opt for a no-contract agreement, leading to payment and service disputes
  • There may not be a backup in case they’re not able to show up for work

With DARA, you free yourself of these worries. We only allow qualified people or agencies to register for personal care services, with background checks and certifications.

Additionally, may a caretaker not be available, we can arrange for someone else to cater to your needs till their availability.

Yet, the most convenient thing about DARA is that everything from bookings to service hour changes, and cancellations, is done at the tip of your fingers through the app.

Would I be paired with the same caregiver every time?

We understand that someone you spend more time with, you become more familiar with. So, you feel more comfortable with that individual.

However, some caregivers may have a tighter schedule as compared to others. So, we may not be able to always ensure their availability specifically.

But you don’t have to worry. We have a variety of qualified and compassionate professionals who can help you get the best care regardless of your circumstances.
